Eat Bulaga should just give Kalyeserye a rest

Today I've watched the April 9 episode of Eat Bulaga and all I could think of was the plot of Kalyeserye has nowhere to go anymore. Frustrating as it may be for the televiewers, the people behind this once stellar segment keep stretching the story and juicing it out despite not getting anything of substance. I wish they would just stop capitalizing too much on Aldub's kilig powers, because it's just plain lazy.

I've been vocal about my disappointment with the writers of Kalyeserye lately and I will continue doing so until they actually fix this. I mean, the viewers deserve more than what we are getting right now. Aldub deserves more than this. Yes, the segment is still entertaining to some extent, but the quality has been declining ever since. What ever happened to the innovative scripts? The crazy cliffhangers? The oh-my-gosh inducing scenes? I know that the people behind the Kalyeserye are capable of giving us ingenious primetime show at daytime, as they have proven before, but suddenly everybody became too complacent. Is it just Ningas-kugon, or did everybody just refuse to put effort anymore?

I'm all up for the addition of extra characters if they were able to bring out flavor in the story, like DuhhRiz. Sadly, the people they have included right now are only in just for some cheap slapstick comedy. It sure does make me laugh once in a while, like Yaya Pak's antics sometimes, but this is not the reason why I'm watching Kalyeserye. I'd rather they do backstories about Lola Tinidora's wild younger days, than see the plot of this story rapidly going down the drain. I'd rather they just end this right now with whatever dignity is left.

“Defeat exists but not suffering. A true warrior knows that when he loses a battle, he is improving the skill with which he wields a sword. He will be able to fight more skilfullly next time.”  - Paulo Coelho

Kalyeserye has become The Buzz minus Boy Abunda who asks questions about the real score about Aldub, at least every time they celebrate their Monthsary. Of course, it's a treat for their fans around the world as they reminisce all the things that have happened for the past 8 months. I still get kilig knowing some tidbits, like Alden officially owning up to the unsaid fact that he was the one who sent Maine a box of Haw-Haw candies before they even met personally. However, are these all there is for Kalyeserye?

Or maybe the glorification of Monthsaries and Weeksaries doesn't work for me because I do not celebrate them at all. Sadly, for me it reflects how Filipinos take relationships with a grain of salt, so lightly being together for a month is already considered a huge feat. For a country that values long courtships, it's ironic how relationships are not expected to last long enough, not even a year.

Or maybe I just crave for some quality story out of Kalyeserye. On normal weekday episodes, there is nothing to discuss anymore as the plot can easily be summarized in a sentence or two. If their cliffhanger was a person, it would commit harakiri for bringing shame to its entire clan.  Everything is just plain pointless, other than to show the advertisements and provide a venue for Alden and Maine to greet each other. Surely, they already do that almost everyday during the Sugod Bahay segment.

To be honest, I like Sugod Bahay segment more than Kalyeserye. It's funnier and livelier than Kalyeserye. I like the interactions of hosts, both in the satellite location and studio, and the daily winner. I like seeing how much Maine has improved in hosting and giving impromptu punchlines. Her childlike laugh is also contagious. I love seeing them horn their skills in other segments than seeing them slowly stagnating in Kalyeserye. Come on Eat Bulaga, wake up!

Why Yaya In could be the next Kalyeserye relatable villain

We all know that the Kalyeserye we all love is not the same anymore. After Tamang Panahon, the plot has stalled for several months now which makes me wonder if they fired their awesome innovative creative writers and changed them. The Kalyeserye that used to live up to its name before and brought us a show with a Primetime Teleserye quality, now has changed. Yes, sometimes there are some nice twists and cameo appearances of Daddy Dods, Caitlyn, and Lola Babah, but what we need right now is a new villain who would rock the world of Aldub. Aldub's charm and chemistry are definitely still there, but Kalyeserye should not depend on that alone because the pa-cute dubsmash can only be done at some extent. I hope the writers wouldn't forget that Aldub wasn't the only sole reason why Kalyeserye became a success, but also because of them and everybody behind Eat Bulaga.

After watching the March 29, 2016 episode of Kalyeserye, I realized how Yaya-In (played by Kitkat) has so much potential to bring in lost spices in the story and I honestly thought she could be the next Lola Nidora. Here are the reasons why:

First of all, Yaya-In is one of those people who you would feel mixed feeling for. Personally, I'm unsure whether I'm amused or irritated with her. Her energy is unbelievably high, like she's fueling it by getting from us. The way she speaks is borderline pabebe, and childlike, but compared to Chuchay (played by Gladys Guevarra), she doesn't overdo it which somehow makes it bearable. Even so, I wouldn't suggest for her to tone it down because it sets her apart from the rest.

Her personality certainly does ring a bell. If you have ever been around toddlers, pre-schoolers, and school-aged children, then you are probably aware how talkative these children are. They tell you every mundane things in their lives without pausing, like they don't know that periods and commas even exist. You get annoyed for a second, but then they make you laugh so you immediately forget about it. Yaya-In is just like that; she has the power to make you question whether you like her or not, just like Lola Nidora.

One of the charms of Lola Nidora is that we cannot fully hate her no matter what she does because we understand where she is coming from. Even if we hate her at the start, she eventually tells us her side and the reasons behind her actions (like setting up the plywood and ridiculously long table), which help us in understanding her. If the writers would apply this aspect to Yaya-In, then she could be the next relatable villain.

1. She can be a backstabber
When the Lolas asked Yaya-In if she knows how to clean, she admits that she is not really good at doing house chores because that's not her forte but immediately equips that she's a fast learner. Being talkative that she is, she goes on and on, and tells that she is patient and perseverant despite having only an hour of sleep. Good. However, with the way she talks and her tone, it can be taken up by somebody who's listening to her that she may be complaining while being clueless about it.

Let me backtrack a little bit. Do you know that a backstabber usually does not know that she is? There is a fine line between stabbing someone's back and just complaining about someone to your friends. It's inevitable and I bet my place that humans are naturally backstabbers. If you thought it's a Filipino quality, then you would be surprised that foreigners are even worse. (Also, the fact that I'm telling you this, is also me backstabbing the 'foreigners' because I'm telling you this behind their back.) Nevertheless, backstabbing occurs so frequently in the Filipino society, sometimes even accompanying nasty rumors, so I think Eat Bulaga can be a venue to show this human trait and how someone can do anything about it. Kalyeserye is known for promoting good values anyways.

Now, I would like them to hire Yaya-In and show how she complains to her friends, or preferably, their neighbors, about the house chores she has to do. They can even make her start some rumors that often start with, "huyy, may chika ako, sa atin lang to ha, promise mo ah," about De Explorers sisters and even Yaya Dub and Alden. When the fire is big enough, let the Lolas confront her and teach her lessons about backstabbing and gossiping.

2. She can be manipulative

 HAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAH! LOL! Oo nga naman!

Seriously though, that is a sign of a manipulative person. She makes you think that you need to give in to what she wants because hey, it makes sense! She spins the wheel so good that you forget that you don't have to give in, in the first place, but rather she is just plainly lacking something that you need. She makes you think that the problem is with you, when in reality, it's not really. She is definitely funny though, so I hope they retain her funny lines while being manipulative. I cannot wait to see how she is going to manipulate everyone in mansion, maybe except for Lola Tinidora. I do not know how the writers can relay some lessons out of manipulation, however though, and how dark they are going to execute this topic.

3. She has a good chemistry with Lola Tinidora

This is where everything gets exciting. I love how Lola Tinidora isn't really fond of her, like she's the only one who can see the real Yaya In, while everyone of us is amused of her. Together with Yaya In's gossiping, backstabbing, and manipulating, I would like to see Lola Tinidora being the only one opposing to her presence in the mansion. This can start a huge rift within the family, because everybody is siding Yaya In. They can play the card of jealously (with Lola Tinidora just jealous of Yaya In's newfound attention from everyone), and mas matimbang ang dugo kaysa tubig. I have heard so many family issues where an outsider breaks the whole family apart, so many Filipino viewers may be able to relate to this twist. If everything is played and executed right, then Yaya In can definitely make or break the De Explorers.

4. She can intervene with Aldub

...although not necessarily as a third wheel, but she can just take over DuhRizz. I can totally see her befriending Yaya Dub, while backstabbing her to Alden. I would like to see her pulling some crazy Teleserye-level stunts (like when DuhRizz kidnapped Tisoy) towards the end and invoke some feelings from Aldub Nation. It's been a while since we have watched crazy twists so I'm really hoping for this to happen. I wish I can tag Eat Bulaga to this post, because this can serve as an open-letters to the writers as well.

Again, I'm not criticizing, but I miss how the Kalyeserye has some serious cliffhanger every week, not just some lame potpot from the truck of basura. I miss those days when I was about to sleep but the moment I close my eyes I couldn't help but wonder what would happen next, which was enough for me to get up, open my twitter app, and talk about Kalyeserye to my fellow AldubNation. I miss those days when the plot has a direction. These days, it feels like they are just trying to stretch the hell out from Kalyeserye, and it's concerning. There are even some episodes where nothing really happened, aside from Lola getting a letter unknown someone. For someone who is a fan of Kalyeserye, I just hope that the writers would realize that Kalyeserye is known for being a dekalidad Primetime Teleserye sa tanghalian, so the plot is really important.

Get That Look: Maine's Boracay OOTD

If you have seen Maine's outfit from her Boracay Escapade with Alden, you surely have wondered where she got her clothes. Well, I don't have an answer for that either, but hey who says you have to buy the exact replica of her clothes just to get the look? There's a lot of alternatives out there that you can try on and still feel fashion forward like Maine Mendoza, ready to charm your next Alden Richards. When you shop around, make sure to look for embroidered clothes, if you like this style. Meanwhile, here is the list of clothes similar to what she wore in Boracay.

Look 1: White Embroidered Boho Dress
Brand: Forever21
Price: $25 (P1161)
Note: This is actually a dress rather than a beach cover up, but nevertheless can be used for beach depending on how thin/sheer the material is. Even so, the style is perfect for anywhere near bodies of water so definitely try it

Look 2: Raviya Embroidered Tunic Cover-Up
Brand: Macy's
Price: Regular Price at $48.00 (P2230), on sale at $35.99 (P1672)
Note: This looks almost similar to what Maine was wearing, although the color of the embroidery is lighter (Azure/light Royal Blue instead of Maine's Navy Blue).

Look 3: Luxe Premier Embroidered Tunic Cover-Up
Brand: Lisa Vogel
Price: $178 (P8270)
Note: The color of the embroidery is not something you are probably going for to get Maine's look, but it is perfect if you want to have something a little bit different.

Remember:
When looking for something similar to Maine's, make sure to check out the fabric and choose the thinnest one you can find so you can still show off your bikini body underneath. This is also helpful if the clothes are not really meant as a cover up (aka medyo mahalay see-through blouses). Kapag waley parin, ask the sales lady if they have any peasant tops and choose the white ones.  If everything else fails, guputin nalang yung white see-through na kumot just go for a kimono cover ups to stay fashionable and on top of your game.

The proofs that there's no more Aldub, but only MaiChard

If Maine didn't get famous because of Dubsmash and Eat Bulaga, I'm pretty sure that she would still end up being famous for being a blogger. This girl writes captivatingly and she's capable of relaying whatever kilig feelings she felt when reminiscing an event in her life. If you haven't checked out her blog yet, you've got to do it right now. Yes, right now, then just come back to me.

I was smiling the entire time I was reading her entry about their mini-vacation. The fact that it really happened in real life, and not just some fiction entry, makes it even more kilig worthy. Everything is surreal. Eight months ago, I've just witnessed how their eyes met for the first time, with the bashful Maine trying to cover up her smiles behind her hand fan. Now, we've come to this. Gahhhhh.

From time to time I’d catch him chuckling and shaking his head off, I wanted to know what was going through his mind for he seemed amused and a little confused so I asked him and the the only thing he said was “Ngayon ko lang kasi talaga ginawa to.”

I'll tell you what girl, when a guy does something for you which he hasn't for anyone else, then he is seriously head over heels for you. This gesture also becomes one hundred times sweeter in our mind because we have that make-the-playboy-become-loyal mentality. We, girls, like it when we know that guys change for us, or that we're the only woman in his life that can change him, maybe aside from his mom.

I remember asking my boyfriend how would I know if I'm the only one he loves, and his answer made me raise my eyebrows. He said, "I would be spending so much money on you that I wouldn't even have anything left to cheat." At first I was like WTF? but now it all makes sense. When a guy allocates all of his resources for you, including his time, energy, health, and wealth, then he loves you. Or at least likes you at a certain level. Some of my guy friends also mentioned to me that guys are almost only willing to spend money on a girl they like, and don't mind freeloading all other else. If this is true, then the fact that Alden allegedly paid for everything in this Boracay vacation with Maine, and rented a private plane just to surprise her, should be enough evidences that Alden is really serious about her.  Kilig!

*Squeals*

I love how these two love birds are doing things together for the first time, like parasailing. #couplelevels yan ha. Personally, I try to save those kinds of activities for someone special and I've never parasailed with a guy friend, only with my girl friends. So yes, I would put this into the list of proofs that there's something more to Aldub nowadays other than friendship. Malisyosa hahahha

Another proof is Maine's tampo with Alden that lasted for 6 days because she thought he couldn't make it to her birthday weekend. For me, that clearly screams may karapatan ako!! Girlfriend levels lang diba? I basically grew up now in the States that I'm not sure anymore if this is a Filipina trait, or Maine is just really matampuhin on the extreme side. I also get into petty fights when I'm in a relationship but I usually talk to my significant one about the problem instead of turning my back and facing the wall, and magtampo. I do not get it at all. Somebody needs to explain this to me.

I had this feeling that we might get thrown off into the water, but at that moment, it didn’t matter anymore. I was having a really fun time and for as long as I am with him, getting thrown off would be alright. I know for a fact na hindi nya ako papabayaan– kahit anong mangyari.
....and that sentence, ladies and gentlemen, officially marks the dissolution of Aldub and the commencement of the new MaiChard nation. Mabuhay! Everything is right in front of our eyes, between the lines. Maine, who is a very non-showbiz and transparent person, basically admitted that they are more than friends right now, and this is actually commendable. A lot of celebrities, especially those who aren't even that well-known, are pretentious with the way they project themselves, which is really annoying. Maine, on the other hand, is honest to the extent of admitting that she kinda felt that RJ would follow her to Boracy. Lol. I mean, all girls are probably like that, right? It's a female intuition, and I really like how she was being real about it. This is why a lot of people love Aldub; because what we see is what we get, with no lies or unnecessary whipped cream and cherry on top.

“From time to time I'd catch him chuckling and shaking his head off, I wanted to know what was going through his mind for he seemed amused and a little confused, so I asked him and the only thing he said was, 'Ngayon ko lang kasi talaga ginawa 'to.'

Review: God Gave Me You - Eat Bulaga Lenten Special

At last, I've finally got to see Maine and Alden act. Even though it is a shame that I have yet to watch them in any movies or TV shows (I know, right?), at least I have a fresh set of perspective when looking at their acting skills for this review. Without further ado, let's get started now, shall we?
Plot *Spoiler Alert*

Dani (played by Maine Mendoza) is a flight stewardess and is Matthew's girlfriend (a pilot played by Jake Ejercito). They seldom see each other due to their hectic schedule but nevertheless love each other very much. Matthew is about to propose to Dani when he gets into a fatal accident and dies. James (played by Alden Richards), who is also a pilot and Matthew's best friend, blames himself for his death and tries to alleviate his guilt by helping Matthew's loved ones in moving on. Right after Matthew's untimely death, James takes his place in fulfilling the unfinished plans and promises he made when he was still alive, which includes finishing his airplane collection and doing a bucket list with Dani. James eventually falls in love with Dani, but Matthew's dad (played by veteran actor Michael De Mesa) eventually tells Dani about the truth and forbids James from contacting Dani and him ever again. James goes to Europe for a job offer, but meets again with Dani in the airport 3 years later.
Acting
Maine Mendoza is truly a gem and her potential to become a great dramatic actress is certainly huge. However, she still has a lot to work on, but with good acting workshop, I can see it happening in the near future. I'm not trying to stir anything right now, but this girl deserves an ABS-CBN acting workshop. Let's be real, Star Magic is known for being able to bring out the best in every artist (and can even make mediocre starlets  to act decently), so given the opportunity, Maine can probably even surpass Alden when it comes to dramatic scenes. For now, her acting in dramatic scenes in this Lenten Special was not so consistent, but knowing that this girl only had a one-day worth of workshop (she mentioned it somewhere in an interview), then she is indeed amazing with more room to grow. So much potential! Ang hirap kaya umiyak on the spot.
Pros: Maine's strength is her ability to move the viewers when she cries. Not everyone can do that, not even some of the veteran actors around. I think people are so used to seeing this girl happy so now when she does cry, people just couldn't help but to feel for her. For a newcomer, she is good in touching people's heart and making them feel her emotions. Another one she's good at is comedic timing, which is somewhat expected since she has been in Eat Bulaga for almost eight months now. Nevertheless, she is a pleasant surprise and can follow Maricel Soriano's steps.

Cons: Maine's weakness is her line delivery when she is crying. Some of it are almost inaudible and incomprehensible. Another one is her Bulacan accent. First of all, I'm not looking down on having a hint of an accent, or saying that she has to get rid of it, but sometimes some lines are meant to be spoken in a certain way. May diin at bigkas sa tamang punto.  These crucial lines lose their weight when spoken differently because they come off as soft, when it shouldn't be. Malamya.  I am positive that she can work on the delivery of lines and act her voice with more workshop, and I cannot wait to see her drop and slay those like a bomb. Lastly, inconsistency. There are some dramatic scenes where I could see her having a hard time to tear up, especially her scenes with Michael De Mesa, but when she finally does cry she can make everyone cry a river, like the scene where she was praying to God. With more acting workshop, she can kick anyone's butt in the ABS-CBN primetime and i'm pretty sure Alden can give her some tips on how to cry without crippling her face, or her mouth, too much.

As for Alden, boy I was surprised to have seen John Lloyd in him. No wonder this guy won a Best Actor award. He is also a gem in GMA7 and he deserves all these popularity he is having right now.
Pros: Alden is a man with superb acting skills. He nailed every scenes! It's worth mentioning that this guy can make every part of himself act, including his voice and body. He has only been in the industry for a little over 5 years, yet he already perfected the art of nonverbal acting. That's amazing. Ang daming artista sa ABS-CBN na walwal parin umarte hanggang ngayon. He is damn good at crying effortlessly and even saying his lines with the right breathing pattern. Hands up.

I do not know if I can really make constructive criticism about Jake right now because he only does cameos in Eat Bulaga. Given his very limited stint, he hasn't set the bar yet, for me, to see his potential. However, by judging his drama scenes, he still needs workshop with Maine, because he doesn't strike me as someone who can be really good in heavy drama. On the brighter note, if chooses to focus on actually getting in the industry, I think he has a potential as well. There are some instances where he delivers his line on a deadpan note, but that can be fixed. Overall, being able to do his scenes convincingly is a huge feat for a newcomer like him who seldom goes in front of the camera and act.
Chemistry
Maine x Jake

Honestly, I have never felt kilig whenever I see Maine and Jake together in Kalyeserye of Eat Bulaga. I was confused about what the fuss is about. Yes, Jake is very handsome, but whenever he was with Maine, I couldn't see them together. Weird enough, in this Lenten Special, I saw their spark for the first time. I felt kilig for a second and momentarily forgot that Maine is already teamed up with Alden. Sayang. I think it has something to do with Maine being cautious with his distance to Jake during Kalyeserye that it prohibited me from seeing they actually look good together when they're inches away from each other. If given the chance, I hope to see more of Maine and Jake, but certainly not in Kalyeserye.  Jake is  extremely lucky for being the only love interest approved by the Aldub Nation for Aldub. He should take this opportunity because he and Maine have a good chemistry.
Maine x Alden

I was curious if Maine and Alden would still look good together outside Eat Bulaga and I wasn't disappointed. It actually amazes me how these two are filled with charisma on their own and that triples when they are together. They complement each other very well and that shows on the small screen. As always, I couldn't help but to feel good whenever they are both on the screen and squeals during romantic scenes, which always make me want for more.
Director and Cinematography
The cinematography sucks. Really sucks. But that doesn't have to do with Direk Joyce Bernal; she is brilliant, too bad the camera isn't. Everything looked kind of flat, and made me think if this show was eaten by the 1990's and was puked back to 2016. I could clearly see how Direk Joyce tried to shoot the scenes from different angles and perspective, but the camera just couldn't cut it correctly. Seriously though, GMA7 needs to change their cameras. It's disappointing and embarrassing. Calling Atty. Gozon, if you want to have more viewers, you have to invest in cameras with 2016 quality. No matter how innovative your teleseryes are, like Encantadia and Mulawin, the fact that your camera can't even do a simple Bokeh, your shows would look cheap. Can someone please petition this to GMA7 because we're 4 years away from 2020, which means that in 4 years, their camera quality is already 30 years behind. Ewww. It's weird when everyone's iPhone shoots a clearer video than one on the TV.
Again, can anyone explain to me why a 2003 movie looks better than a 2016 Lenten Special, camera quality-wise?

Screen Shot 2016-03-25 at 8.29.58 PM
Going back to Direk Joyce Bernal. She is amazing. Her editing is great and the pacing of the scenes is good. I can actually tell that she is the one directing when it comes to her choice of song selection too. May dating.  Tatak Bernal. I hope she directs an AlDub movie. A phenomenal love team deserves a phenomenal director whose forte is romantic comedy films (Till There Was You by Piolo Pascual and Judy Ann Santos, anyone?). Please lang. Just because Mike Tuviera is the son of TAPE's chariman, Antonio Tuviera, who is the producer of Eat Bulaga, doesn't make him automatically qualified to direct Aldub. Just my two cents.
Random thoughts
How is it possible for Alden to cry and still look handsome at the same time? Why does Matthew's dad blames James for his son death when he is not the one who killed him? Maine looks bad when she cries hahahahhahahaha, now I feel like I can have a chance with Alden. Joke lang. Maine looks better with minimal make up and when she's letting her hair down. It doesn't make sense that Dani and James said I love you's to each other after 3 years. Jose Manalo is good at drama acting. Jake is handsome. How about you? Share your thoughts below.

The reasons why women want a guy like Alden Richards

I have never been a fan of any Filipino supercouple, or loveteams, until AlDub came. I was under the impression, and I still am, that formulated team ups usually lack any authenticity, which I would be discussing next time. Contrary to their contemporaries, AlDub is such a breath of fresh air with the ability to make the people feel the romance no matter where they are. Their chemistry is undeniably strong and the kilig factor definitely transcends from the televisions to social media and computer screens.
It may sound shallow, but Alden Richard's exceptional good looks is accountable for initially attracting the fans. I also think the success of AlDub is partly due to the fact that they have this Ying and Yang energy vibe; where Maine's beauty and extraordinary charm complement Alden's physical appearance, making him godly handsome and very attractive whenever she is around. They do not even have to be standing side by side from each other, just a few inches distance on the screen is enough to invoke any kilig feelings from the viewers, which might be the reason why split screen works on them very well.
Of course, there is more to Alden other than his set of dimples deeper than the Mariana trench, or his captivating smile that can instantly make the females automatically drop their underwear and willingly say "halayin mo ako." He is a hard worker (almost bordering a workaholic actually), God-fearing, genuine, unbelievably kind, an ultimate gentleman, and undoubtedly one of the most humble celebrities around. I am not claiming that he is perfect, but he is probably the kind of guy your mother wants you to marry and have children with.
Aside from that, it is crazy how Alden manages to make millions of women to swoon. Almost everyday, I see women tweeting and claiming they can actually feel their souls leaving their human bodies on Earth at the sight of him. Then, these women eventually finally see the  light at the end of tunnel, most especially, whenever he is doing romantic gestures for Maine. Without any shame, I am admitting that I am one of them. I mean, what is there not to love about seeing a guy trying to shower a woman his affection?
I noticed that most of the Filipino women are into men who have expressive traits, such as being caring and affectionate. This may be because:
(1) Since our society values the alpha barako men, represented by Robin Padilla, the boys then grow up trying to emulate traits that they believe can increase their manliness. Often, these behaviors somehow exude sexism. Nakakalalake, mataas ang ihi, at hindi Ander Da Saya. Women are expected to take care of our men, and this has been going for centuries that women eventually dream of having men who would gladly do the pampering.
(2) We are just conditioned to look for the maginoo men, as per our grandma's advice, that may be due to reasons stated in the previous paragraph. It's a cycle!
The last time I've seen a huge frenzy that rocked the Philippine Television Ratings was back in the Meteor Garden days (2003). The series bewitched the entire women population in Asia because there was Dao Ming Si, a rich and attractive man willing to give the world to Shan Cai. Shan Cai wasn't also Barbie Hsu, she was us. We were swept off our feet when Ah Si was being an all-out romantic and we couldn't help but to dream of stumbling upon a guy exactly just like him. When Shan Cai was kidnapped, he willingly volunteered as a tribute, and our hearts melted when a strong guy like him chose not to retaliate in order to protect her.
Ten years later, we did eventually stumbled upon a guy just like Dao Ming Si, and his name is Alden Richards. The guy who is willing to run along Edsa for lola's approval. The guy who is willing to swim several pools, withstand a dropping  plywood, and a ridiculous long table just to see a glimpse of Yaya. The guy who is willing to be a pawn in order to make Yaya his queen. Again, there is no Yaya Dub, but there is us.
Alden's Gifts for Maine
MaiChard
Most importantly, Alden's real life persona (aka Richard Faulkerson Jr. / Tisoy) is very similar to the role that he is portraying in Kalyeserye. If Alden showers gifts and flowers to Yaya Dub in the baranggay, then Tisoy also does the same, more generous even. For a guy who is rumored as a kuripot, he has no qualms in giving Maine 5 gifts, each of which represents a letter of her name. On top of that, he surprised her a mini-vacation getaway to Boracay, with all expenses shouldered by him. He also leased a private plane on the way to the island to really surprise her. Don't get me wrong, it is not about how splendid this vacation was, it is all about how Alden actually gave time for Maine. This man works 7 days a week but on March 6, he set aside his work just to be with her. He showed Maine that she is also one of his top priorities.
A lot of women want to have a guy like Alden Richards not just because of the material things he can give, or how handsome he is. Rather, it is about the time and effort he commits. I think every single trait that I mentioned earlier all boils down to these two. Anything that shows how a guy chooses to allocate his time and energy for us, no matter how busy he is, makes everything romantic and kilig-worthy, because he is deliberately giving us something that's a part of himself that he cannot take back.
