Get That Look: Maine's Boracay OOTD

If you have seen Maine's outfit from her Boracay Escapade with Alden, you surely have wondered where she got her clothes. Well, I don't have an answer for that either, but hey who says you have to buy the exact replica of her clothes just to get the look? There's a lot of alternatives out there that you can try on and still feel fashion forward like Maine Mendoza, ready to charm your next Alden Richards. When you shop around, make sure to look for embroidered clothes, if you like this style. Meanwhile, here is the list of clothes similar to what she wore in Boracay.

Look 1: White Embroidered Boho Dress
Brand: Forever21
Price: $25 (P1161)
Note: This is actually a dress rather than a beach cover up, but nevertheless can be used for beach depending on how thin/sheer the material is. Even so, the style is perfect for anywhere near bodies of water so definitely try it

Look 2: Raviya Embroidered Tunic Cover-Up
Brand: Macy's
Price: Regular Price at $48.00 (P2230), on sale at $35.99 (P1672)
Note: This looks almost similar to what Maine was wearing, although the color of the embroidery is lighter (Azure/light Royal Blue instead of Maine's Navy Blue).

Look 3: Luxe Premier Embroidered Tunic Cover-Up
Brand: Lisa Vogel
Price: $178 (P8270)
Note: The color of the embroidery is not something you are probably going for to get Maine's look, but it is perfect if you want to have something a little bit different.

Remember:
When looking for something similar to Maine's, make sure to check out the fabric and choose the thinnest one you can find so you can still show off your bikini body underneath. This is also helpful if the clothes are not really meant as a cover up (aka medyo mahalay see-through blouses). Kapag waley parin, ask the sales lady if they have any peasant tops and choose the white ones.  If everything else fails, guputin nalang yung white see-through na kumot just go for a kimono cover ups to stay fashionable and on top of your game.

The proofs that there's no more Aldub, but only MaiChard

If Maine didn't get famous because of Dubsmash and Eat Bulaga, I'm pretty sure that she would still end up being famous for being a blogger. This girl writes captivatingly and she's capable of relaying whatever kilig feelings she felt when reminiscing an event in her life. If you haven't checked out her blog yet, you've got to do it right now. Yes, right now, then just come back to me.

I was smiling the entire time I was reading her entry about their mini-vacation. The fact that it really happened in real life, and not just some fiction entry, makes it even more kilig worthy. Everything is surreal. Eight months ago, I've just witnessed how their eyes met for the first time, with the bashful Maine trying to cover up her smiles behind her hand fan. Now, we've come to this. Gahhhhh.

From time to time I’d catch him chuckling and shaking his head off, I wanted to know what was going through his mind for he seemed amused and a little confused so I asked him and the the only thing he said was “Ngayon ko lang kasi talaga ginawa to.”

I'll tell you what girl, when a guy does something for you which he hasn't for anyone else, then he is seriously head over heels for you. This gesture also becomes one hundred times sweeter in our mind because we have that make-the-playboy-become-loyal mentality. We, girls, like it when we know that guys change for us, or that we're the only woman in his life that can change him, maybe aside from his mom.

I remember asking my boyfriend how would I know if I'm the only one he loves, and his answer made me raise my eyebrows. He said, "I would be spending so much money on you that I wouldn't even have anything left to cheat." At first I was like WTF? but now it all makes sense. When a guy allocates all of his resources for you, including his time, energy, health, and wealth, then he loves you. Or at least likes you at a certain level. Some of my guy friends also mentioned to me that guys are almost only willing to spend money on a girl they like, and don't mind freeloading all other else. If this is true, then the fact that Alden allegedly paid for everything in this Boracay vacation with Maine, and rented a private plane just to surprise her, should be enough evidences that Alden is really serious about her.  Kilig!

*Squeals*

I love how these two love birds are doing things together for the first time, like parasailing. #couplelevels yan ha. Personally, I try to save those kinds of activities for someone special and I've never parasailed with a guy friend, only with my girl friends. So yes, I would put this into the list of proofs that there's something more to Aldub nowadays other than friendship. Malisyosa hahahha

Another proof is Maine's tampo with Alden that lasted for 6 days because she thought he couldn't make it to her birthday weekend. For me, that clearly screams may karapatan ako!! Girlfriend levels lang diba? I basically grew up now in the States that I'm not sure anymore if this is a Filipina trait, or Maine is just really matampuhin on the extreme side. I also get into petty fights when I'm in a relationship but I usually talk to my significant one about the problem instead of turning my back and facing the wall, and magtampo. I do not get it at all. Somebody needs to explain this to me.

I had this feeling that we might get thrown off into the water, but at that moment, it didn’t matter anymore. I was having a really fun time and for as long as I am with him, getting thrown off would be alright. I know for a fact na hindi nya ako papabayaan– kahit anong mangyari.
....and that sentence, ladies and gentlemen, officially marks the dissolution of Aldub and the commencement of the new MaiChard nation. Mabuhay! Everything is right in front of our eyes, between the lines. Maine, who is a very non-showbiz and transparent person, basically admitted that they are more than friends right now, and this is actually commendable. A lot of celebrities, especially those who aren't even that well-known, are pretentious with the way they project themselves, which is really annoying. Maine, on the other hand, is honest to the extent of admitting that she kinda felt that RJ would follow her to Boracy. Lol. I mean, all girls are probably like that, right? It's a female intuition, and I really like how she was being real about it. This is why a lot of people love Aldub; because what we see is what we get, with no lies or unnecessary whipped cream and cherry on top.

“From time to time I'd catch him chuckling and shaking his head off, I wanted to know what was going through his mind for he seemed amused and a little confused, so I asked him and the only thing he said was, 'Ngayon ko lang kasi talaga ginawa 'to.'

The reasons why women want a guy like Alden Richards

I have never been a fan of any Filipino supercouple, or loveteams, until AlDub came. I was under the impression, and I still am, that formulated team ups usually lack any authenticity, which I would be discussing next time. Contrary to their contemporaries, AlDub is such a breath of fresh air with the ability to make the people feel the romance no matter where they are. Their chemistry is undeniably strong and the kilig factor definitely transcends from the televisions to social media and computer screens.
It may sound shallow, but Alden Richard's exceptional good looks is accountable for initially attracting the fans. I also think the success of AlDub is partly due to the fact that they have this Ying and Yang energy vibe; where Maine's beauty and extraordinary charm complement Alden's physical appearance, making him godly handsome and very attractive whenever she is around. They do not even have to be standing side by side from each other, just a few inches distance on the screen is enough to invoke any kilig feelings from the viewers, which might be the reason why split screen works on them very well.
Of course, there is more to Alden other than his set of dimples deeper than the Mariana trench, or his captivating smile that can instantly make the females automatically drop their underwear and willingly say "halayin mo ako." He is a hard worker (almost bordering a workaholic actually), God-fearing, genuine, unbelievably kind, an ultimate gentleman, and undoubtedly one of the most humble celebrities around. I am not claiming that he is perfect, but he is probably the kind of guy your mother wants you to marry and have children with.
Aside from that, it is crazy how Alden manages to make millions of women to swoon. Almost everyday, I see women tweeting and claiming they can actually feel their souls leaving their human bodies on Earth at the sight of him. Then, these women eventually finally see the  light at the end of tunnel, most especially, whenever he is doing romantic gestures for Maine. Without any shame, I am admitting that I am one of them. I mean, what is there not to love about seeing a guy trying to shower a woman his affection?
I noticed that most of the Filipino women are into men who have expressive traits, such as being caring and affectionate. This may be because:
(1) Since our society values the alpha barako men, represented by Robin Padilla, the boys then grow up trying to emulate traits that they believe can increase their manliness. Often, these behaviors somehow exude sexism. Nakakalalake, mataas ang ihi, at hindi Ander Da Saya. Women are expected to take care of our men, and this has been going for centuries that women eventually dream of having men who would gladly do the pampering.
(2) We are just conditioned to look for the maginoo men, as per our grandma's advice, that may be due to reasons stated in the previous paragraph. It's a cycle!
The last time I've seen a huge frenzy that rocked the Philippine Television Ratings was back in the Meteor Garden days (2003). The series bewitched the entire women population in Asia because there was Dao Ming Si, a rich and attractive man willing to give the world to Shan Cai. Shan Cai wasn't also Barbie Hsu, she was us. We were swept off our feet when Ah Si was being an all-out romantic and we couldn't help but to dream of stumbling upon a guy exactly just like him. When Shan Cai was kidnapped, he willingly volunteered as a tribute, and our hearts melted when a strong guy like him chose not to retaliate in order to protect her.
Ten years later, we did eventually stumbled upon a guy just like Dao Ming Si, and his name is Alden Richards. The guy who is willing to run along Edsa for lola's approval. The guy who is willing to swim several pools, withstand a dropping  plywood, and a ridiculous long table just to see a glimpse of Yaya. The guy who is willing to be a pawn in order to make Yaya his queen. Again, there is no Yaya Dub, but there is us.
Alden's Gifts for Maine
MaiChard
Most importantly, Alden's real life persona (aka Richard Faulkerson Jr. / Tisoy) is very similar to the role that he is portraying in Kalyeserye. If Alden showers gifts and flowers to Yaya Dub in the baranggay, then Tisoy also does the same, more generous even. For a guy who is rumored as a kuripot, he has no qualms in giving Maine 5 gifts, each of which represents a letter of her name. On top of that, he surprised her a mini-vacation getaway to Boracay, with all expenses shouldered by him. He also leased a private plane on the way to the island to really surprise her. Don't get me wrong, it is not about how splendid this vacation was, it is all about how Alden actually gave time for Maine. This man works 7 days a week but on March 6, he set aside his work just to be with her. He showed Maine that she is also one of his top priorities.
A lot of women want to have a guy like Alden Richards not just because of the material things he can give, or how handsome he is. Rather, it is about the time and effort he commits. I think every single trait that I mentioned earlier all boils down to these two. Anything that shows how a guy chooses to allocate his time and energy for us, no matter how busy he is, makes everything romantic and kilig-worthy, because he is deliberately giving us something that's a part of himself that he cannot take back.
